Xenerga Moving Forward With Biodiesel Plant Plans

January 26, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Xenerga Inc., based in Orlando, Fla., has plans to open a biodiesel production plant in Birmingham before the end of 2007. In total, the company is considering 40 major U.S. markets in its initial plans for plant openings, the AP reports. The first plant will open in Orlando in April. The production equipment for each plant will come from Germany. Xenerga will use cooking oil from a network of suppliers. Each plant is expected to produce 5 million gallons of biodisel a year. In other biodiesel news, Seattle-based General Biodiesel said it has begun production of a 10-million gallon plant in Mt. Vernon, Wash. The Washington state renewable fuel standard calls for 2 percent of all diesel sales to be biodiesel by 2008, according to a report from Earth Times.
