DETROIT, MI – GM Fleet & Commercial Division has launched a new dealer and customer Web Site: www.whygas.com. Whygas.com features a savings calculator that shows exactly how much money a customer can save with a gas engine compared to a diesel engine. Other site features include information on gas engine advantages, 2007 diesel standards, and the rest of GM’s full lineup of medium-duty engines. A dealer locator is also featured prominently.
“New 2007 EPA standards have made diesel engines more expensive than gasoline engines — often thousands of dollars more costly,” said GM Communications Manager Rob Minton. “Only GM makes the gas engine available in every medium-duty truck class. The Vortec 8.1L V-8 is the only gas engine in classes 6, 7, and 8*.”
GM Fleet & Commercial is supporting whygas.com with a major marketing effort that includes print ads, online banner ads, a CD-ROM, search engine marketing, and direct mailers.
*Excludes other GM vehicles. Based on 2006 GM vehicle segmentation. Medium-duty conventional trucks with a GVWR of 19,500 to 37,600 lbs. only. Single axle only.
