Minn. Trucking Companies Cope With Diesel Shortages

October 30, 2006

ROCHESTER, MN – Minnesota trucking companies were coping with spot fuel shortages on Oct. 26, with diesel supplies out or nearly out in Rochester, Mankato, and Winona, according to the Associated Press. John Hausladen, president the Minnesota Trucking Association, said the shortage was discussed during a recent board of directors meeting in Rochester. He said there was still fuel in the state; it just wasn’t evenly distributed. According to the Associated Press report, the shortages were brought on by increased demand by farm equipment during the harvest, the ongoing transition to ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel, and a changing mix of products coming out of refineries.

Universal fleet cards offer fleets optimized fuel data management and give broad station access. A universal fuel card usually is used only for fuel; however, in recent years, controls have been added to allow use at repair shops for a limited number of repairs or limited dollar amount.
