Honda CEO Touts Hybrid Family Vehicle Planned for 2009

September 29, 2006

PARIS, France --- During an appearance at the Paris Motor Show, Honda President and CEO Takeo Fukui said that the company will expand its hybrid line-up in 2009 with a hybrid family vehicle offered at a reasonable price. Honda expects the new offering to generate global sales of 200,000 units. The CEO's comments were posted on the Web site on Thursday, Sept. 28. At the auto show, Honda displayed the FCX concept fuel cell vehicle. The previous week, the company unveiled a drivable FCX concept in Japan to demonstrate its progress. "And we intend to set up the opportunity for European journalists to drive it in the near future," Fukui said. "Further, Honda plans to begin sales of a next-generation vehicle based very closely on this concept in 2008."
