High Gas Prices Spur Reduction in Driving

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- According to a new poll by the Pew Research Center, 55 percent of drivers said that high gasoline prices have prompted them to cut back on driving. The poll also found that one in five drivers started carpooling or sharing rides more often. Another 12 percent said they starting using mass transit more often. The poll was conducted June 20-July 16 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. A total of 1,048 people were polled.
