SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. --- A Ford dealer in Southern Pines, N.C., has opened the state’s first station that sells only alternative fuels, according to a report in BusinessWeek. The station, owned by Bill Smith, sells two types of ethanol and a biodiesel mix that can be used in most diesel engines. The state’s government fleets began experimenting with alternative fuels back in 1990. Today, North Carolina’s fleet includes more than 5,500 vehicles that use ethanol or compressed natural gas, BusinessWeek reported.
