Bank Offers Incentives for Employees to Buy Hybrids

June 12, 2006

BOSTON --- Bank of America last week rolled out an incentive program that gives employees $3,000 in cash when they purchase a fuel-efficient vehicle. The offer is available to 21,000 employees in Boston, Los Angeles and Charlotte, according to an AP report. To qualify, employees must live within 90 miles of one of the three cities. Bank of America isn't the only corporation trying to entice employees to purchase hybrids and other fuel-efficient vehicles. Google, based in Mountain View, Calif., offers its employees $5,000 in cash to purchase --- and $2,500 to lease --- cars that get at least 45 miles per gallon.
