Knox County Prohibits Vehicle Idling to Save Money

October 13, 2005

KNOXVILLE, TN— Knox County has implemented a new policy to save fuel and cut air pollution: Employees are now prohibited from leaving county vehicles running while parked, according to the Associated Press. The policy, which allows for some exceptions, was announced as prices for gasoline hovered around $3 a gallon in the area as a continuing effect of hurricanes Katrina and Rita on the country’s oil supply.
