GARDENA, CA — Nissan said that it will begin building a hybrid version of its Altima sedan at a U.S. plant starting in late 2006, according to the Bloomberg News Service. Nissan will become the fifth automaker to produce hybrid vehicles in the U.S. The company will use either the Smyrna, Tenn., or Canton, Miss., factory. The hybrid will be a 2007 model.
