Sheriff Threatens to Park Police Fleet for Lack of Gas Money

October 27, 2003

The sheriff of Clark County in Indiana says he may have to park his fleet of 45 police cars because the county won't give him extra money to pay for gas.

Sheriff Michael Becher says he's considering asking a judge to order the southern Indiana county to provide $50,000 for gas and oil, and another $8,000 for office supplies. County Council members earlier suggested that Becher pay for the gas out of the county's emergency fund.
