Kansas Fuel Tax to Increase

June 27, 2002

Kansas will increase the surcharge levied against trucks driving on its highways, according to the State Laws Newsletter. On July 1, Kansas will raise the rate of diesel tax from 23 to 25 cents per gallon and its gasoline from 21 to 23 cents. Also, the Legislature has cut out transfers to the highway fund of $145 million annually in sales tax collections. Truck registration fees will also increase from $2 to $10 per vehicle.
