BP on May 14, 2002 unveiled its new concept in convenience retailing — BP Connect. Located at corner of Roosevelt and Wabash in downtown Chicago, the new BP Connect store represents the state-of-the-art in fueling and convenience shopping. It also marks the start of a $25 million investment BP is making in new retail sites in Chicago. BP currently operates more than 40 BP Connects in the Chicago suburbs and plans to increase that number to around 65 in Chicago and the suburbs by year-end. The company is also in the midst of a $5 million renovation of its network of Amoco retail sites in the city of Chicago. The reimaging campaign involves the conversion of Amoco sites to BP’s green and yellow livery and Helios trademark featuring Amoco fuels. This includes Internet-connected fuel dispensers that offer news, weather, and traffic information along with touch-screen convenience for refueling. BP Connect stores, like all BP retail sites, offer Amoco-branded fuels. The full slate of Amoco gasolines — Amoco Regular, Amoco Silver and Amoco Ultimate, BP’s low-sulfur and lower-emissions premium gasoline — are available. To date, BP has introduced cleaner fuels in more than 110 cities worldwide. For more information, go to www.bp.com.
