Q. What steps should we take to become ELD compliant?

A. Motor carriers and drivers should determine if they fall under CMV regulations for HOS/RODS, and thus need to comply with the ELD law. Then they should select a certified ELD provider that delivers the best solution for their fleet operations and can implement before the deadline so they have time for training. Once the ELDs are purchased and installed, procedures should be implemented to incorporate the ELD rule in day-to-day operations. Finally, a training should be scheduled for drivers and support staff.
