The Range Rover Velar provides exceptional on-road performance and agility that is combined with outstanding ride quality. The Range Rover Velar sits on a 113.15-inch wheelbase and provides seating for five with a luggage compartment volume of 34.4 cu.-ft. behind the second row seats.

Most exclusive of all these is the Velar First Edition, which I had the opportunity to test drive. The Range Rover Velar First Edition production is limited to approximately 500 units in the U.S. and is available for only one model-year.

The Range Rover Velar First Edition is powered by a 380 hp supercharged V-6 gasoline engine mated to an 8-speed ZF transmission.

It has a compelling exterior design with a very attractive silhouette. The exterior design includes segment-first flush deployable door handles on all four doors, which protrude when the doors are unlocked. The flush deployable door handles contribute to a coefficient of drag of only 0.32Cd, making it the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced.

The First Edition features a black contrast roof and a sliding panoramic roof, and is equipped with 22-inch 9 split-spoke wheels, which gives it a very aggressive stance.

Other distinctive exterior features include full LED headlights with signature daytime running lights that combine a distinctive design with highly practical capabilities. The full-LED headlights are the most slender ever to appear on a production Land Rover vehicle.

Driving at night or in poor visibility is made easier by Auto High Beam Assist, which automatically dips the high beam when oncoming traffic is detected, reverting to its full height when vehicles have passed.

The Range Rover Velar First Edition also features a highly sophisticated all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics. Electronic air suspension is standard on the Range Rover Velar First Edition, improving on- and off-road capabilities, while Adaptive Dynamics damping technology enhances driving comfort and control. It also includes traction technologies such as Terrain Response, All Terrain Progress Control, Low Traction Launch, Hill Descent Control, and Gradient Release Control.

Luxurious and Spacious Interior

The Range Rover Velar First Edition features luxurious Windsor leather seats that are extremely comfortable with a 20-way controlled driver/passenger seats.

For driver comfort in colder climates, the New Range Rover Velar First Edition benefits from a heated Windsor leather steering wheel.

In addition, the Range Rover Velar First Edition features a heads-up display system that is fully customizable and features bright graphics in high resolution – enabling you to see all driver inputs and information with greater ease.

It includes six airbags and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, reverse traffic detection, driver condition monitoring, adaptive cruise control with queue-assist, and lane keep assist.
