Lexus models have taken on a sportier look in recent model years, as the brand seems to be intent on shaking up the design of its once-conservative approach to styling. The 2016 ES 350 is the latest model to undergo this re-do; it arrives with a light update and more aggressive front end with trapezoidal grille.

Lexus doesn't offer a fleet program, so executives who drive these models would take their corporate allowance to a dealership.

The ES350 entry luxury sedan may not be as sporty as some of its competitors but it provides a tasteful, pleasing mixture of plush interior creature comforts and a softer ride to smooth out roadway bumps.

The ES350 is powered by a 3.5L V-6 that makes 268 hp and 248 lb.-ft. of torque. To achieve its softer ride, the ES350 uses a four-wheel independent suspension system with MacPherson struts and gas-pressurized shock absorbers. Front and rear stabilizer bars also bolster the ride.

Fuel economy ratings come in at 21 mpg for city driving and 31 mpg for highway cruising.

Buyers can add the new Lexus Safety System+ that includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and a lane departure alert with a steering assist feature that course-corrects lane drift.

The ES350's plush interior sets the standard with soft leather upholstery, heated and cooled seats, and an available heated wood and leather trimmed steering wheel.

The 2016 refresh also brought L-shaped daytime running lights, a fresh wheel design, rectangular tailpipes, and new interior colors such as Flaxen brown (our press car color) and Parchment.

The ES350 retails for $38,000, while our model would sell for $49,989.
