In Memoriam: Kent Zabel

Kent Zabel, president/CEO and shareholder of Zabel & Associates Inc., the parent company of Tri-State Auction Co., Sioux Falls Auto Auction and DSI Inc., died on Nov. 12, 2001, at his home in West Fargo, ND. He was 65, Zabel was one of the founding members of the ServNet auction group. In 1961, he founded Finest Auto Trim, located at the facilities of Tri-State Auction. In 1978, Zabel and then-partner Lyle Plambeck purchased Tri-State Auction and, in 1990, co-founded Sioux Falls Auto Auction. Today these companies employ more than 250 people.
