For two days in October, Schaumburg, Ill., was among the greenest places in the country. The reason: the 2012 Green Fleet Conference and Expo, which was held Oct. 2 and 3. The event was co-located with NGVAmerica’s 2012 NGV Conference and Summit.

The event, which was produced by Bobit Business Media, the publisher of Automotive Fleet, attracted almost 1,000 fleet professionals — some with long experience in sustainable fleet practice who were looking to hone their knowledge, and some who were putting their toes into the sustainability waters for the first time.

Among the highlights were keynote addresses by Johanna Wellington from GE Global Research; Mitch Jackson of FedEx; Dave Hurst of Pike Research, a part of Navigant; and John Davis, host of television’s MotorWeek. In addition, this year’s Fleet Sustainability All-Stars were announced, and attendees had a chance to try out the latest green vehicles during a ride-and-drive event. Educational opportunities and the chance to meet with representatives of all aspects of the industry in the exhibit hall rounded out the sustainable picture for attendees.

The sixth annual Green Fleet Conference will be held in Phoenix Oct. 1-2, 2013.
