CAMPBELL, CA - Coulomb Technologies announced that the first public ChargePoint networked charging station for electric vehicles is now installed in Philadelphia.
The 240V Level II ChargePoint station, now available to the public, is located at South Port Plaza Liberty Service Stations (1600 South Columbus Blvd.) in Philadelphia.
The ChargePoint station was sold by Coulomb distributor Green Power Technology LLC. South Jersey Green LLC handled the installation.
"Within the next year we'll see electric vehicles from every major automobile manufacturer driving down the streets of Philadelphia, including the Chevrolet Volt, the Nissan Leaf, the Ford Focus EV and others," said Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies. "It is fitting that a city so rich in history is now writing a new chapter by welcoming new clean-transportation electric vehicles."
According to Coulomb, ChargePoint Network's features include:
The ability for a station owner to set fees for use of their stations (including free charging)
The ability for drivers to access stations without a subscription via contactless credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX and Discover)
24/7/365 telephone driver support via a toll-free number on all charging stations
Smart grid-ready with built-in utility grade-capable metering, time-of-use (TOU) pricing and demand response (DR) control
Multiple smart phone applications (iPhone and Blackberry) to find unoccupied stations and navigate to them
Low operating cost due to real-time operational monitoring, alerts, diagnosis and control of millions of stations.
