In Memoriam: Jean Holman, 1926-2010
MERCHANTVILLE, NJ - Jean Polk Holman, wife of Holman Enterprises' Joe Holman and mother of Mindy Holman, passed away Jan. 20. She was 83.
MERCHANTVILLE, NJ- Jean Polk Holman, wife of Holman Enterprises' Chairman Joe Holman and mother of Mindy Holman, president and CEO, passed away Jan. 20. She was 83.
Holman Enterprises is the parent company of Automotive Resources International (ARI).
Holman grew up in Merchantville, N.J. She graduated from Merchantville High School in 1944 and went on to New Jersey College for Women. After graduating with a degree in psychology, Holman spent two years working for the Campbell Soup Company. In 1950, she married Merchantville classmate Joe Holman. In 1952, the couple moved to their home in Haddonfield, where they lived for the next 56 years.
After raising her three children, Holman attained a master's degree in educational psychology from Temple University and worked for the university as a career counselor. Subsequently, she joined the family business and served as a special projects coordinator for the Human Resources Dept., in addition to serving on the Holman Enterprises Executive Committee.
Holman is survived by her husband Joe; sons Jeff and Steve; daughter Mindy; sisters Helen and Elizabeth; and grandsons Jeffrey, Brett, Brad, and Joe.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 29, at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053, or the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown.
