Chrysler Rolls Out 200C EV Concept Car at Detroit Auto Show

DETROIT --- Chrysler is showcasing its 200C EV concept car -- a rear-drive, four-seat sedan capable of 0-60 mph in 7 seconds flat -- at the North American International Auto Show.

DETROIT --- Chrysler is showcasing its 200C EV concept car -- a rear-drive, four-seat sedan capable of 0-60 mph in 7 seconds flat -- at the North American International Auto Show.

The car uses Chrysler's range-extending electric drive system featured in other electric concept cars developed by the automaker's ENVI engineering arm: the Town & Country EV minivan, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited EV and the Jeep Patriot EV.

The 200C EV sedan can drive up to 40 miles on battery-only power. A small gasoline engine and on-board electric generator produce electricity to extend the driving range to 400 miles.

Chrysler also unveiled an all-electric plug-in Dodge Circuit EV, an electric concept car with an estimated range of 150 to 200 miles.

Chrysler hopes to put at least one of its electric vehicles into production in 2010. At least three more EV models will follow by 2013, the company said.
