SACRAMENTO, CA --- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger this week vetoed a bill (AB 2825) requiring auto repairers to share copies of parts invoices with their customers if they requested them. 

If passed, the bill would have imposed a fine of up to $1,000 and/or six months in prison for those repair shops that failed to comply.

Supporters of the legislation argued it would curb the fraudulent practice of "parts swirtching." But opponents said the bill represented unnecessary regulation. The California Autobody Association (CAA) lobbied against the bill.
