EDEN PRAIRIE, MN – GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services hosted more than 100 NAFA members and guests at a recent North Central NAFA Chapter meeting. The meeting was held Sept. 17 at GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services' Eden Prairie, Minn., headquarters. The agenda topic for the quarterly meeting was the timely discussion of hybrids and alternative-fuel options applicable to commercial truck fleet applications.
Dan Kratz, GE's truck operation manager, kicked off the meeting with a presentation highlighting technology gains that are accelerating the commercialization and acceptance of hybrids and alternative fuels in truck fleets. Discussion included biofuels, diesel-electric hybrids, and electric vehicles.
In addition, several truck manufacturers shared their hybrid and alternative-fuel vehicle options for medium- and heavy-duty trucks with the audience. Representatives from Azure, Inc., Chrysler, Daimler/Freightliner, Ford, General Motors, International Truck, Kenworth/Paccar, Sterling Trucks, Clean Cities of Minnesota, and the Governor's Taskforce were present to answer any questions attendees had on green initiatives for commercial truck fleets.
After the presentations concluded, attendees were invited outside to take an up-close look at hybrids and alternative-fuel model options available for medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
