Auto Club: Southern California Gas Prices Drop Slightly
LOS ANGELES --- For the first time in seven weeks, Southern California gas prices dropped very slightly compared to the previous week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area was $4.617 per gallon, which is nine tenths of a cent less than the previous week, 56 cents higher than last month, and $1.46 above last year.
In San Diego, the price was $4.603, which is 2.7 cents lower than the previous week's price, 49 cents above last month, and $1.46 higher than last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price was $4.688, down 1.5 cents from the previous week, 49 cents above last month, and $1.28 more than last year.
In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price was $4.599, 1.3 cents under the previous week, up 51 cents from last month, and $1.47 higher than last year.
"Around the country, gas prices are backing down very slightly," said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. "Unfortunately, the pricing situation remains very volatile and there's no way to know whether this is the start of a true price decline or if it’s just a plateau."
