Chrysler to Recall '09 Dodge Journey

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Chrysler LLC is recalling 6,692 MY 2009 Dodge Journey vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said, because the engine wiring harness may contact the left transaxle mount and pose a fire risk.

Government Investigating Complaints Over 2002-3 Jeep Liberty

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has upgraded its investigation of Chrysler's Jeep Liberty, following 22 customer complaints about the upper ball joint separating on either of the front wheels, the Associated Press reported.

NHTSA Urges Motorists to Respond to Recalls

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is urging owners of certain unrepaired Ford, Lincoln and Mercury SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and passenger cars that contain a safety defect to bring their vehicles to dealer repair shops immediately to have the cruise control switch disconnected.

Mustangs Recalled to Fix Air Bags

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that Ford will recall 470,000 Mustangs from the 2005-2008 model years in order to recalibrate how forcefully the front-passenger air bags deploy.

Fuel Continues to be the No. 1 Threat to Fleet

The number one threat to fleets continues to be the price of fuel, despite the fact that fuel prices have been declining due to the global economic slowdown. Year-to-date, the cost of fuel has increased 30 percent in 2008 compared to 2007. The Energy Information Administration is projecting fuel to average $3.82 per gallon in calendar-year 2009. Fuel is the potential game changer of the fleet industry. Consider two recent examples as harbingers of things to come.
