Gasoline Prices Surge in Wake of Hurricanes

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Propelled by temporary refinery outages resulting from hurricanes Gustav and Ike, the U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline increased for the first time in 10 weeks.

U.S. Gulf Coast's Wholesale Gasoline Price Jumps

NEW ORLEANS --- With Hurricane Ike approaching the U.S. Gulf Coast, wholesale gasoline in the region jumped 12 percent today, Bloomberg reported.

Hurricane Gustav Damage Estimated at $4-10 Billion

NEWARK, CA --- By late Monday, Risk Management Solutions had lowered its insured loss estimates from Hurricane Gustav to between $4 billion and $10 billion in total, not including flood damage covered by federal insurance, the Wall Street Journal reported.
