April 1991 - 24th Annual Conference

Date:
April 25-27
Location:Atlanta, Ritz-Carlton

The following is an article that appeared in the May 1991 issue of Automotive Fleet.

Atlanta was the host city for the 1991 gathering of the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) Spring Meeting & Conference.

AFLA inducted Jay Campbell-McFeeters of LMV Leasing as its new president, Mike Flanagan of Units States Fleet Leasing as executive vice president, and Milo Matick of Al Piemonte Ford as vice president.

AFLA's 23rd Annual Meeting and Conference, held at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta from April 25-27, 1991 was the best-ever attended gathering of the association with more than 250 registered attendees, and centered around the theme of qualifying vendors, keeping control mechanisms running smoothly, and verifying the services received.

At the keynote address Friday, April 26, Michael Richardson, president and CEO of Angle American Auto Auctions, expanded on that theme, saying that every company has its own philosophy on what it considers services to be, and Anglo American's service philosophy is that "There is no substitute for quality, innovation creates service, you are only as good as the people who for you, and nothing will work without communication and cooperation.

More Salespeople on the Street Pitching Reimbursement

By Mike Antich
Reimbursement has re-emerged as a fleet issue. One reason is that Runzheimer has a rival, which means two competitive sales forces are aggressively selling vehicle reimbursement programs. Also, the recession, corporate downsizing, funding/credit constraints, OEM viability, and economic uncertainty have renewed senior management's desire to re-examine reimbursement.
