Heineken International established a road safety improvement program that is designed to measure, report, and verify driver behavior habits, according to Nexus Communication.

Adriana Holban, global category leader fleet and travel, for Heineken International, spoke during a panel on driver safety at the 2018 Global Fleet Conference in Rome about how the company is managing its global fleet to improve driver safety through its program “The Green Road.”

Holban also mentioned that Heineken has also implemented telematics solutions to curb accidents. In a pilot program in three European countries, the brewer decreased the number of accidents and fuel consumption by between 8% and 12%.

She mentioned that establishing consistent safety standards across the world can be challenging in emerging markets, according to Nexus Communication. The company is also supporting road safety education in countries with poor road conditions.

The 2018 Global Fleet Conference was held at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Rome, Italy, on May 28-30, 2018. The 2019 Global Fleet Conference will be held June 5-6, 2019 in Miami, Fla., at the Hilton Miami Downtown.
